Repeat prescriptions

To re-order your medication, you can do this on-line 24/7 via the NHS App or your NHS account. You can download the NHS App on your phone or tablet. You can also access the same services in a web browser. You can usually set up ordering of repeat medication without coming into the practice. Please allow us THREE WORKING DAYS to process your prescription request, this is so we can review if any tests or appointments may be needed (see further below).

If the app directs you to the practice,  please bring a current passport or photo driving licence to reception and we’ll provide you with a PIN number and step-by-step instructions.

Alternatively:

  • You can use a Pharmacy/Chemist to order your prescriptions, or

using the tear-off re-order slip from your last prescription, please tick the items you need, then:

  • Post into the letterbox outside 24/7
  • Send it with an SAE for postal return to Washway Road Medical Centre 67 Washway Road Sale M33 7SS

If you’ve not got the re-order slip, please write your name, address, contact number and details of the medication(s) you need, then drop this to us as above. For safety reasons, we cannot accept telephoned requests for repeat items.

Collecting your prescription

Most prescriptions are now sent electronically via the Electronic Prescription Service to a nominated pharmacy of your choice. If you have not yet nominated a pharmacy to automatically receive your repeat prescriptions, then after 3 working days, your paper prescription can be:

  • collected by you in person (or by someone nominated by you)
  • mailed back to you via your SAE
  • collected by a local pharmacy of your choice

If you are permanently or temporarily housebound or find it difficult to get out to collect your medication, please ask your pharmacist if they can offer a delivery service.

Medication Reviews

From time to time your doctor will want to review you and your medication. When your review date approaches we will review your medication automatically; should any tests or appointments be needed, we will contact you by letter or by text message inviting you to either complete an online questionnaire about your condition or to self-book a particular type of appointment. It is helpful if you can arrange the necessary tests and/or appointments within the month before your next prescription is due. Reminders will be issued as necessary in order to continue to provide medication appropriate to your condition. If you don’t respond to our reminder, then we may reduce the quantity of medication we issue each time until you book  your appointment or tell us you don’t wish to attend at the moment. You will appreciate that we have a responsibility to prescribe your  medicines safely and that includes making sure your condition is well controlled and the treatment we prescribe is still suitable for you. We have a pharmacist available every day who can speak to you if you have any queries or concerns about your medication.

The pharmacy attached to our practice is entirely independent from us.

Online services update

To obtain access to your full medical record, please complete a request form and submit to reception. For patients who have already signed up to order repeat medication and would like access to these additional services, please speak to our reception team. You may be asked to produce formal evidence of identity and current address, in person, at reception.
