Seasonal ‘flu vaccinations and Covid-19 Autumn boosters

We have been inviting eligible patients to book their annual seasonal ‘FLU VACCINATION at the surgery, from early September 2023.

Last year saw a peak in flu illness – the highest for 5 years.  Protecting yourself against seasonal ‘flu by getting your ‘flu vaccination each year, protects you and those around you by preventing serious illness and keeping people out of hospital.

Adult ‘flu vaccination clinics started at Washway Road Medical Centre on Saturday 9 September, for all patients aged 65 & over, followed by patients aged under 65 at risk. From Saturday 14 October, we started child ‘flu vaccination clinics for children aged 2 & 3, and at risk children aged up to & including 17 years. Read about the importance of protecting your child against ‘flu here. We have child ‘flu vaccination clinics running on Saturdays, into weekday evenings and some early weekday morning appointments, to make this as convenient as possible. Eligible school aged children will be offered ‘flu vaccination at school.

Our ‘flu vaccination clinics will be continuing though October and into November & December 2023, so ring and book your appointment on 0161 905 4711 and don’t leave it late to protect yourself, please prioritise your health & that of those around you.

Due to last year’s success, we have again used text messages to invite patients, with the ability to self-book your own flu vaccination appointment, using your smartphone.  We have written to all other patients and you can ring us to book your appointment on 0161 905 4711, and to tell us if you don’t want your ‘flu vaccine this year.

Please be reassured that we have enough ‘flu vaccine & willing staff to vaccinate & protect all our “at risk” patients this Autumn.

Covid-19 Autumn booster vaccinations are being delivered by local pharmacies, you can book online or ring 119. When the Covid-19 vaccination was brought forward in September 2023, we undertook to prioritise visits and vaccinate our most vulnerable groups below:

  • housebound patients;
  • care home residents living in a care home.

We will have completed these visits by 31 October 2023.
